Hvor er vi nu? - Indblik og debat.

Akupunktur er igennem de senest år blevet mere og mere populært hos befolkningen og har fundet vej ind i det autoriserede sundhedssystem, ligesom det er blevet almindeligt at anvende Akupunktur i forbindelse med behandling gennem diverse sundhedsforsikringer.

Denne dag har til hensigt at præsentere deltagerne for en lang række studier af Akupunktur og Kinesisk Medicin, og åbne op for en dialog omkring de udfordringer, Akupunktur på baggrund af Traditionel Kinesisk Medicin har i forhold til den naturvidenskabelige forskning. Foredraget foregår på engelsk.

All will include Acupuncture, Herbs, Nutrition, but also Gua Sha, Moxa and Cupping

Learning Objectives:

Participants will:

  1. Understand why TCM research is important and how it serves as a real tool for us as therapists in our day-to-day:
  • In our daily practice (new protocols, supportive evidence)
  • Improve communication by discussing evidence with patients and with other professionals (both Western and Eastern medicine) who are not fully aware of TCM effectiveness or would like to know more on how it works
  1. Understand the basics of Evidence-based Medicine and Clinical research - types of studies, methodologies, outcomes
  2. Understand the issues related to research in Chinese Medicine and how to interpret them (Example: Sham acupuncture)
  3. Be taught where to look for publications in TCM research, how to assess their value
5. Receive a review of up-to-date 40-50 publications in approximately 10 therapeutic areas (Examples – See below)
 

Description:

Capitalizing on the rapid expansion of TCM Clinical Research in the last decade, this course aims to show viewers how to access, understand, and utilize publications in TCM Research in their practice.

Contents include:

  • Understanding the basics of clinical research and evidence-based medicine
  • Exploring the methodology of clinical studies in TCM and evaluating the significance of results
  • Finding relevant and reliable sources of TCM research
  • Utilizing clinical findings to substantiate ancient medicine in communications with customers and Western Medical community
  • Integrating current research findings of 30-40 publications in 10 therapeutic areas into your day-to-day practice

Structure:

  • Day 1: Basics of research in general, TCM research, looking for publications and assessing their value
  • Day 2: Review of research publications of choice. All include mainly acupuncture, but also Herbs, Nutrition, Gua Sha, Moxa and Cupping (where relevant). 



Oplægsholder (dagen foregår på engelsk):

Dr. Gil Barzilay Ph.D Dipl.CM (I.A.TCM, ETCMA)

Gil has a Diploma in Chinese Medicine (Dipl. CM, I.A.TCM) with distinction from Broshim College of Integrative Medicine, Tel Aviv University, where he studied both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. In addition, he has completed a 1-year specialty course in "Chinese & Macrobiotics Nutrition (TEF Method)" with Eyal Shpringer.

Gil works in his clinic in central Tel Aviv and in "Refuot", one of the leading CAM Clinics in Israel. He also teaches "Research & Evidence in Chinese Medicine" for 3rd and 4th Year students in Broshim College where he also supervises the students' final year Research Projects. In addition, he teaches abroad in Denmark, Poland and Finland so far.

Gil is part of the International Community of Chinese Medicine (ICCM) Team, leading ICCM's International Relations. He writes regularly research reviews & newsletters for Broshim, ICCM and other organizations (Facebook: drgiltcm). Gil served during 2017 as the Head of Research within the Executive Committee of the European TCM Association (ETCMA) and is now part of the Evidence Based Acupuncture (EBA), striving to promote better health through better information about acupuncture’s scientific evidence.

Before studying Chinese Medicine, Gil worked in Teva Pharmaceuticals, leading Global Marketing for the Innovative Multiple Sclerosis business.

Gil has a B.Sc (Honors) from Imperial College, University of London, a Ph.D from Oxford University in Cancer Research and a European Medical Biology Organization (EMBO) Post-Doctoral fellowship at the Weizmann Institute, specializing in Cell Death (Apoptosis) research.
